Prayer Pails

                        About a year a ago
I pinned Prayer Pail on
Pinterest and like 99%
of the things I pin I
didn't even click on the link to look
at it, I just thought it looked like a
good idea and went on looking.

The kids and I needed a craft
this week
so I thought of this.
I didn't really read how others did
theirs but I know my children
can't really read so I thought we
would make ours
with pictures!

So we printed a picture
of all the kids, cousins, aunts, uncles,
& grandparents.

I cut their faces out!

The girls insisted that we
include "Uncle Rob",
he is our pastor so I agreed.
We should all pray for our pastors.

I let the kids color and decorate the sticks
to make the activity more
hands on.

Nixon decorated all her
sticks with
"I Love You".
(she's just excited she knows
how to write the phrase by herself"

I decided to hot glue the faces on the sticks.
Isla and nixon helped
me stick them on!

Nixon kept pretending it was burning her.
(I kept warning her it was
VERY hot)

Our finished project!
(Oh! I actually finally
did vinyl letters
with my Cricut!)

Every night at dinner time
the kids will choose
(with their eyes closed or we will be
there all night) one stick to
pray for specifically.

Tonight Jared went 1st
to show the kids an example
 of praying specifically.
He chose our niece
Johnna Katherine.
He prayed for her safety,
for her to ober her parents,
and for her to come to know Jesus.

I chose my sister Jessica.
(Sorry, no pic)

Roman chose Pop!
He was so excited!
He prayed for Pop!
(that's all he really
can say)

Nixon picked cousin Sara.
She prayed for her to obey
her parents, for her sister and brother,
and for her safety.

Isla picked Nina!
She was also very excited.
She prayed for Nina
not to get sick, and to have a safe to trip
when she comes to visit.
(Nina isn't coming anytime soon
but I guess that was her way
of asking God for her to visit)

After I had planned this out I
did go and check other people who had done
this. Many suggest praying for missionaries,
lost friends, church family, etc.
But because our family is sooo big
(we have 34 sticks total)
I decided to only include close family.

The possibilities are endless and
I am already thinking of
ways we can extend this
idea!

Jared and I really think this is a
great way to teach our 4 young
children how to pray specifically
for people and not just pray the
same generic prayer over and over.

It's a way to show them to love and to
care about others.

And honestly, it made me
think about how
much I need to pray more
specifically for
my family members
and others.

The kids really had a fun time
tonight doing this and I
look forward to many nights of
our Prayer Pail to
come!

Rainy Memorial Day

I'm taking a break from
playing catch up
and actually posting about today.
I figure that is the only to to really
get caught up.

We have had a wonderful Memorial Day.
We went swimming all morning
with friends.

The kids were excited about
our 1st family baseball
game we were going to have this afternoon
but it started raining. :(

So...to avoid cleaning and doing laundry
Nixon and I decided to do a craft!

Since my Easter door hanger is
STILL hanging on my door,
(for my defense it's a cross)
I decided we would try to make a
burlap door hanger
for Memorial Day
(It will most likely still be
hanging there 4th of July)

Nixon wanted to make one for
her bedroom door too!

Luckily we had all the materials
needed in our workroom!

I do not have an artistic bone
in my body but Nixon
apparently takes after her
Grandmother Nixon!

For our 1st Burlap hangers
I think they turned out pretty cute!
(It'll look good enough from the road,
no one ever uses the front door!)

Disney on Ice

Last month we went to
Disney on Ice.

Jessica and her kids came
to Alabama to join us!

Roman, Isla, Julianna, Johnna Katherine,
JennaLeigh, JohnMark, Nixon and Lottie!

Lottie stayed home with JennaLeigh and Nina
but she sure looked cute!

Donna and I made dresses
 for our girls earlier
that week.
(the ruffle necks are a little big,
probably will make them smaller next time!)

We joined our friends, the
 Goodmans and Hudsons,
at Ihop before the show!

The kids were
super excited about the show!

Lion King

This was Roman's
1st Disney on Ice!

The girl's favorite part
was definitely Little Mermaid!

Ursula was a little scary!

Isla and Roman took
turns in my lap!

The kids also really
liked Peter Pan!

Jessica and Johnna Katherine!

JohnMark posed with my cane!
I was excited that I was able to go to
the show. I had just gotten out
of my wheelchair!

Roman really did great and
enjoyed the show
but after intermission it
was nap time and
he was out!!!

All the kids!

Julianna & Nixon!

Julianna, Nixon, JohnMark, Braden,
Bella, Libby, Isla, & Johnna Katherine
(all the kids but Roman of course!)

Last year was good but this
year was great!
We really enjoyed the
show!

My favorite part was
when Julianna said
"This is better than Disney World!".

Jessica and her kids had just gotten
back from Disney World the week before.

$11 vs $100's
It doesn't take much to make these kids happy!

Handmade by Gue- Easter Pictures

Every Easter Gue makes
all the grandchildren coordinating
Easter outfits.

Every Easter we try to get pictures
of the family which results in a
very chaotic afternoon or morning!

This year we decided to
get my high school friend,
to take the pictures.

She did a wonderful job.
The pictures turned out beautiful!
Having a professional also
made it quick and stress free!
(well almost stress free,
there is always one kid who refuses to
cooperate)

The Cartee Family

Pop, Gue &
all the grandchildren!

We tried getting a picture of just
the children but of
course it was my son who refused
to cooperate!
(if you look closely you can
see Pop holding him in the back! )

Walker, Copper, and Tucker

Our Family

I love this picture of
Isla and Nixon!

I'm not sure where
the girls got the "hand on
the hip" pose??!!

Roman refused to stop for
a picture but Larrah
caught the two below.
I love them!

We took Lottie's inside.
This is my absolute favorite!

Jared & Roman

Me & my girls!

The session ended with the
girls making silly faces!

A BIG thanks to Larrah for
being so patient with my family!
I think the pictures are fabulous.
I look forward to next year when I
will actually be able to stand for some pictures!

And another BIG thanks to Gue
for taking the time and effort to
make such beautiful
dresses and outfits for the kids!
